Gathering for the Harvest
Ohe·láku invites everyone to take part in its annual harvest celebration, as the community comes together to harvest Tuscarora White Corn, share food, exchange handmade goods, and continue the work of growing food sovereignty.
Traditional Corn Harvest
On Saturday morning, visitors will be welcomed at the Edge of the Woods before heading to Teken Field, where hand harvesting will take place from 9–11 a.m. The work continues at the barn throughout the day with husking and braiding.
Our work is part of a larger vision of Sovereignty—growing food, sharing knowledge, strengthening relationships, and building greater independence from systems that too often determine who has access to land, food, and energy. The revival of Tuscarora White Corn nurtures knowledge, relationships, and community.
Together, we’ll practice tending the land, carrying knowledge forward, feeding one another, and making sure there is something to pass on.
Lunch and dinner will be available both days, and everyone is welcome to bring a dish to pass. On Saturday evening, we will gather under the tent for a barter market. Bring something to exchange, whether something you have made, grown, gathered, or simply have to share.
There will be no cost to attend, and families are welcome.
